Very nicely articulated. So much of this fandom leans toward the inevitability of Janto. I'm not sure it was inevitable. Any number of scenarios could have kept them apart. You have made a good case for the slow road to understanding and intimacy and this, somehow, rings more true even if it is less romantic.
